Statement of Merit Criteria:
Important Messages:
The Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action highlighted systemic barriers that Indigenous employees face related to career advancement and support. We recognize that Indigenous Defence Team members have difficulty accessing and succeeding in obtaining promotional opportunities within the Public Service. This recruitment campaign reflects the Deputy Minister’s commitment to taking meaningful action towards reconciliation and in response to the Call to Action on Anti-Racism, Equity, and Inclusion in the Federal Public Service.
Process Intent:
As an Indigenous person, your unique experience, knowledge, and contribution to Canada’s past, present and future are instrumental in the Department’s path to understanding, inclusion and reconciliation. We recognize the value that diverse perspectives and strong communities bring to the Defence Team and are committed to putting words into action through this recruitment process.
The intent of this process is to create a pool of candidates to fill current and future vacancies at the AS-04 and AS-05 level across the Department of National Defence.
