Non-Instructional Teaching Assistant - AFNorth International School (Canadian Section)
AFNORTH International School in located in Brunssum, The Netherlands and was founded in 1967. Today, the school provides education for over 900 international children of both NATO and military personnel serving in The Netherlands and Germany.
The Canadian Section is regularly looking for Non-Instructional Teaching Assistants to ensure that pupils are safe, well-behaved, and well cared for during the lunch break. You could be working inside the cafeteria or outside in the playground.
The role of an Non-Instructional Teaching Assistant (Lunchtime Assistant) is quite diverse and a typical week could entail:

- Supervising children whilst they play and/or eat.
- Ensuring that children are in appropriate areas
- Helping to maintain a calm and enjoyable atmosphere during break-time
- Encouraging social and respectul play.
- Resolving or mediating conflicts between students
- Assisting younger students with their lunch (such as helping to open food containers).
- Assisting with setting up and clearing away dining furniture and/or equipment.
- Assisting with setting up and clearing away play equipment and/or toys.

Completion of secondary education or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
An equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience is defined as two years of secondary education and experience, usually gained over two years, working in a school environment.
English

Education and/or Qualifications:
Valid first-aid and CPR qualification or equivalent.
Language
French
Experience in interpreting and applying policies, procedures, directives or legislations for relevant manager, program or client.
Experience supporting individuals with special needs or learning difficulties.
Experience working with children in a structured work environment (e.g. daycare/school/summer-camp etc.).
