Are you passionate about international logistics and movements? As part of a support team to the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF), based in Cologne, you will be collaborating within a team comprising of both military and civilian members. As our new Inbound Logistics Agent, you will be responsible for processing transportation service contracts to ensure that the right services are procured, compliant with regulations and cost effective. You will be working alongside two other Inbound Logistic Agents who are looking forward to guiding and supporting you when you first join the Inbound Logistics team.

What will you be doing?

  • Coordinating and liaising, via telephone or email, with various government agencies, commercial transportation/shipping agents and contractors and maintaining accurate documentation and electronic records throughout the process.
  • Providing information, recommendations, and advice in support of resource planning and management.
  • Assisting in planning and implementing transportation plans for shipments.
  • Obtaining quotes for transportation services 
  • Reviewing quotes for compliance with contract conditions.
  • Preparing invoice packages and ensuring documentation is complete for payment
  • Producing compliant and well-organised contracting files.
  • Producing compliant shipping documentation

Gross starting salary = C5a, step 1

3290.76 EUR per month

The salary scale has a total of eight (8) incremental steps which you can grow into over a fixed period.  Effective 01 February 2025, the step increments are as follows:

Step 1 €3290.76 gross First three (3) months of employment 
Step 2 €3442.11 gross The following six (6) months of employment 
Step 3 €3592.60 gross The following nine (9) months of employment 
Step 4 €3756.18 gross The following twenty-four (24) months of employment
Step 5
€3929.29 gross The following twenty-four (24) months of employment
Step 6
€4058.09 gross The following twenty-four (24) months of employment 
Step 7 €4234.32 gross The following thirty-six (36) months of employment 
Final Step €4442.31 gross Will be granted for all subsequent employment in the salary group

  1. You must be a citizen of a current NATO member country. Only citizens of NATO member countries are eligible to apply for a NATO security clearance.

You must be willing to undergo a background investigation to obtain and maintain a valid security clearance certificate from your own NATO member country (if required for the specific position) and subsequently to obtain and maintain a NATO security clearance. If your country of citizenship has compulsory military service (conscription) for its citizens, you must have completed your compulsory military service (conscription) as per your country of citizenship’s legislation.   4. You must be willing to provide the required documentation to obtain ‘reliability status’.
  5. You must be able to obtain and maintain a criminal record check.

 

OPERATIONAL & ORGANISATIONAL NEEDS

  • Hours of work may vary from time-to-time.       
  • Willingness and ability to complete mandatory education/training relevant to the position in Germany or Canada and maintain the relevant certification throughout the duration of employment.
  • For operational or unforeseen business reasons, employees must be willing and able to work from home if requested to do so by their supervisor. However, this position is office based.

 

THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA ARE CONSIDERED ESSENTIAL

Essential Education: 

  •  Minimum of German School Level Fachhochschulreife or equivalent.

Essential Languages:

  • Fluent written and spoken English & German are BOTH essential.

Essential Experiences:

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience organising international shipping/freight.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office products (e.g. Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Essential Skills & Abilities:

  • Experience working with the armed forces of a NATO member country is an asset.

    Ability to communicate in another language of a current NATO member country (in addition to English and German) is an asset.
